Cataract Surgery

Cataracts refer to the change in the composition of the eye’s natural lens, transforming it from a transparent state to a cloudy state, often appearing white in color. The idea behind cataract surgery is to replace this cloudy lens with an artificial transparent lens.

Vision Correction Surgery

The concept of vision correction surgery involves altering the refractive power of the cornea and the natural lens of the eye either through corneal surgery or lens surgery. This is done to achieve the necessary power to focus incoming light directly onto the retina, resulting in clearer vision without the need for assistance such as prescription glasses or contact lenses.

Corneal Surgery

The cornea is the transparent part at the front of the eye, located in front of the iris, which gives the eye its color. The cornea is primarily responsible for light refraction and thus the formation of the image that enters the eye onto the surface of the retina, enabling clear vision. The transparent cornea can be affected by certain diseases that cause opacity, obstructing vision. In such cases, it may be necessary to replace the cornea with a transparent human cornea through transplantation.

Retinal Surgery

The retina is the highly sensitive part located at the back of the eye, receiving the image as it passes through the cornea, lens, and vitreous body. The retina then transmits the image through the optic nerve to the brain for perception. The vitreous body may develop opacities due to bleeding or other problems, necessitating its removal and replacement with a transparent substance. The retina may also detach from the other layers of the eye, losing its source of nourishment and impairing its function. In such cases, surgical intervention is required to reposition the retina and restore its normal function.
